We are struggling to think of an opening sequence or even if we are going to apply an opening sequence to our film or if we are going to go straight into our film. I have conducted a research into different drama films opening sequences on YouTube in hope to give us an idea on what to do if we should do one. I have picked different types of opening sequences to hopefully inspire us what to do.
Dear John.
Dear John as an important opening sequence as he narrates and brings the audience straight into the story, the opening sequence includes important facts that the audience doesn't know about until later on in the film, also the narrator's phrase in this opening sequence is repeated which shows it's importance as it unravels in the film. This is something i would like to present in our opening sequence, using the scene to portray messages that we be repeated to show it's importance or use action to describe the main focus of our story instead of words, this would include the audience as they would have to think for themselves without the narrator telling them.
Titanic.
Titanic is a famous drama, the opening sequence sets the scene as the colour tinted shows the time of the event and the main focus of the film, the Titanic ship. The opening sequence shows the events of what happens in the film but does not show the exact events and what happens in between which leads the audience guessing and wanting to see more. This is an important technique to draw in the audience and keep them wanting to read more.
Hanna.
This opening sequence is different to the others as it explores the locations in the film. I like this as the audience will get a feel for the film before actually viewing it through the choppy cuts of different scenes. The silence opening almost makes the audience feel tense as they are waiting for something to happen. The girl pointing the gun directly at the camera also applys the audience to the film, the shocking red background in her name represents her as being dangerous character as red fits in with the blood from the deer.
