Research into individual area of brainstorm

My chosen area to research from our brainstorm, is films that have been made based on a popular saying/the challenging of stereotypes. Below is an advert I discovered from 1986 based on seeing 'the whole picture'.

This Guardian advert shows 3 different perspectives of one incident, and challenges stereotypes. It shows a suspicious character running toward a business man in the middle of a street. Instinct compels the audience to jump to the conclusion that the man is going to either rob or physically attack the businessman. However, when the camera angle changes and a ton of bricks comes into view, the audience understands that the suspicious character is not going to attack the business man, but is in fact going to save his life.

This advert has provided an inspiration for our own film because it is a simple idea, and has a very unexpected twist which makes it both effective and more interesting to watch. We will develop this idea to come up with a different scenario, and consider it as one of our main ideas.

Here is a link to a website that reviewed the advert, and below is a screenshot of the main response.

"Even today this is held up as some of the finest work to have been seen in the UK."

This is a quote taken from an article written by Jonathan Durden, for the Guardian, on 'The Art of the Successful Pitch'.

Below is another website which talks of the advert and the impact that it had during the time it was viewed on the television.
